Manuel Vilariño, National Photography Award 2007, he is another of the artists that has visited us in the Meetings with Photographic Authors, meetings that consists of 5 hour-long seminars, in which authors will be speak about photography and their work with the students of the International Masters in Contemporary Photography.
Manuel Vilariño is a Galician artist and poet that develops all his creative activity around the spirituality of India and Ethiopia, at the same time deals with still lifes, landscapes or portraits playing with religious, profane, sacred and prohibited extremes.
His understanding of photography is based on the staging of the heart and poetic thinking.
Animals appear in most of his metaphoric compositions and allegorical elements, which are part of an essential and reflexive world and subjects such as life, lifecycles and sense of time are looked on.
Since he organized his first exhibition 1982, his work has never ceased on display around remarkable multiple galleries and museums becoming part of their collections, such as The Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, the Extremadurian and Ibero-American Contemporary Art Museum (MEIAC) in Badajoz, ARTIUM in Vitoria or the Coca-Cola Art collection.
